Need Vacation Plans? Don’t want your kids sitting in front of the TV all vacation week? Send them to space!
During the Challenger Learning Center’s vacation programs Feb. 18-21, children are engaged in hands-on learning guided by certified teachers. This time around, the topics range from completing engineering feats to conducting slimy experiments to designing a lunar lander. Visit our Web site, www.clcofme.org, for details on each program. Pre-registration is required and limited space is available. Costs range from $20-$45 per session.
The Challenger Center is hosting Boy and Girl Scouts Missions Feb. 14-16. There is still space for your troop!
Stop by the Challenger Learning Center of Maine booth at the Camp Bangor Fair in the Bangor Civic Center on Feb. 13 from 3-8 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to learn about all the cool camps and workshops we’ll be running this summer. We’ll have free goodies and even fun activities!
Globe at Night — Counting stars around the world. Take part in an international star count from home! Last year there were 8,491 observations reported from 60 countries. Participate one or more nights between Feb. 25-Mar. 8 and submit your data to the Challenger Learning Center at 30 Venture Way in Bangor.
Participation in GLOBE at Night is open to anyone; simply download an observation chart at www.globe.gov/globeatnight then use the chart to see how many stars of Orion are visible.
On Thursday, Mar. 6 come to CLC to help us celebrate this “World-Wide Hunt for Stars” at our “Star Party!” We will have lots of fun star and telescope activities at the Center and people can also report their counts. The event is free to the public; donations are welcome.
