Chapter Two will host an author’s reception, book signing and open house, Sunday, 7 October, from 2 to 5 pm, celebrating the newly published Talking Graphics a book of IconoChrome images by Jane Davis Doggett.
Talking Graphics expresses timeless philosophical messages in striking geometric images and bold color. Jane Davis Doggett’s work translates the essence of thought and wisdom into vivid icons reflecting the elegant interaction of design fundamentals. Her dazzling art is a precise visual language that is unique in its concept, reflecting the complexity of profound ideas in seemingly simple clarity.
Jane Davis Doggett, a summer resident of Corea, a village of Gouldsboro, pioneered the field of architectural and environmental graphic design at the Yale School of Art and Architecture, where she received the MFA degre with top honors in 1956. She has had an outstanding career creating thematic graphic identity and wayfinding systems for mass public complexes, including Madison Square Garden, the Whitney Museum of American Art and 40 international airports. Her designs have earned her distinguished honors, most notably the American Institute of Architects National Award of Merit.
Chapter Two: Corea Rug Hooking Company & Accumulated Books Gallery, features Rosemary’s original design hand hooked rugs, Garry’s unexpected collection of accumulated books and oringial art of the Schoodic Peninsula in the Marsha Spurling Gallery, as well as local crafts and selected gifts and antiques. Chapter Two is located at 611 Corea Road, Corea and is open all year, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 11 to 4 with extended hours in the summer.
