pileated woodpecker
I was sitting in my family room and saw this pileated woodpecker perched on a tree outside the window. I quickly grabbed the camera as he waited for me to snap a shot of him. What a great state we live in, to be able to see this bird out my window. He really made my day.

I too was sitting in my living room when a Pileated Woodpecker appeared, unfortunately, I couldn't get to my camera in time! Lucky you!
Are these the same woodpeckers...
...that are hinding from photographers in the bayou area in South N. America? I remember a story on television about them.
