Emily Muir "The Time of Her Life"
Deer Isle artist Emily Muir was one of Down East Maine’s most beloved and accomplished artists. Besides being an important painter, she was a virtual Renaissance woman- a sculptor, writer, designer, architect, conservationist and community activist.
Island Ad-Vantages, editor R. Nathaniel W. Barrows wrote: “During the second half of the 20th century, Emily Muir had more effect and influence on Deer Isle than any other individual. She thought globally and acted locally. Her enduring energy, drive, creativity, steadfast principles and vision left indelible imprints on the public, economic, environmental and personal life of our community.”
Liros Gallery is presenting a show of Emily Muir’s paintings, drawings, pastels and watercolors from June 26th to July 31st in Blue Hill at 14 Parker Point Rd. An opening reception will be held on June 26th from 5-7pm.
