With the slow change in season come a change in programming at Bangor Parks and Recreation. There are plenty of programming opportunities for adults and youth alike.

“February and March are the typical transition months for us where we still have some indoor programming, but are slowly trying to make the transition back outisde,” said Tracy Willette, Superintendant of Recreation.

One of those outdoor programs is the ski and snowboard lesson program. “We have offered this program together with Hermon Mountain for a number of years, and it continues to be a popular program,” he said. Lessons are on Tuesday afternoons. Session two of the program started on February 5 and will continue for four weeks. The program fee includes four one hour lessons, up to one hour of free time on the mountain, as well as equipment rentals.

Another program starting at Bangor Parks and Recreation is the spring bowling program. This program is offered with Family Fun Lanes in Bangor and is for youth age four through grade 5.  “This is another great program that we have been able to offer with a local business,” Willette said. Spring bowling has a fee of $20 for Bangor residents and $25 for non-residents. Spring bowling happens on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 p.m. and the fee includes six weeks of bowling and shoe rentals each week.

A variety of other activities will happen later in the spring including Mity Mite Soccer,

T-Ball, along with the annual Easter egg hunt and mother-son dance. “We are also interested in other program ideas folks might have,” Willette said.
