Matagamon

This wondrous sunset was photographed on Matagamon Lake. It is one of the most peaceful, awe inspiring places. Matagamon is the head water for the East Branch of the Penobscot River. It is also on Baxter State Park's northern border, and accessed via Patten, 90 miles north of Bangor.
From Bangor, the north entrance to Baxter is a hair over two hours, more if you stop to admire wildlife. Considering there is no charge to Maine residents, and a small fee for non-residents, it boggles the mind to understand why anyone would want to miss out on this place.

I will gladly keep it all for myself.
