Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America admits Maine dealer
The Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America voted to admit Portland, Maine, rare book dealer Lux Mentis, Booksellers into the organization. Owner Ian Kahn said, “This is a goal we have been working toward for four years, we could not be more pleased”. Lux Mentis, Booksellers specializes in library/collection development and heirloom quality books and conducts business internationally. Ian Kahn is the current president of the Maine Antiquarian Booksellers Association. Two other book dealers were admitted to the organization at the same time, Kuenzig Books from New Hampshire and Bray Books from California. Founded in 1949, the ABAA is America’s premiere rare book trade organization, promoting ethical standards and professionalism. Membership in the ABAA also confers membership in the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, a federation of the 20 national rare book organizations. New members are voted on three times a year, during the ABAA’s major book fairs. The Los Angeles fair was held February 15-17 and the next will be the New York Book Fair, held April 3-6, 2008.
