Sanjaya's finally gone and now that I have good things to say about "American Idol," I thought I'd share a few ways to win big being offered by "Idol" and its advertisers. By voting for your favorite Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream flavor, you could score tickets to "American Idol." I'm not one that needs a reason to taste test ice cream, but if you do feel like you need an excuse, this is a pretty good one. To enter, visit the Edy's contest site and vote for your fave flave.
In addition to "Idol" updates, the show's official Web site also is offering some sweet rewards. Check it out and let us know if you strike it rich.

Unfortunately, our favorite funny men didn't pass the scrutiny of the "Last Comic Standing" judges, but we love 'em anyway. Check out the Web site chronicling their journey at www.qandacomedy.com. Their blogs and video footage are almost good enough to be a reality show all of its own.
Two of our very own favorite funny men are headed to Montreal this weekend to audition for NBC's "Last Comic Standing." Chris Quimby of Brooks and Josh Alves of Brewer left today for Canada to see if they have enough humor to win the title of "Last Comic Standing." Best of luck to both of them and stay tuned to hear if they're still laughing when they return. For the most up-to-date reports of their journey, check out www.QandAcomedy.com for their blog, columns, comic strips, and video streams.
I am pleased to announce that the silver, tin foil-tipped, awkwardly bent rabbit ears that have been a decorative staple in my living room will no longer be needed by the time I get home.
While living in a rural area has its perks, there are some drawbacks. Fortunately, with the help of my satellite company, I got rid of one of the downsides this morning and hopefully will be antenna-free tonight.
For more than a year the process to watch local channels at our house has been a pain to say the least. For some of you, the process may sound familiar.
The Man on the Couch and I faithfully have watched the entire season of "Nashville Star," and both are anticipating that the sibling rivalry factor between the Hackers is going to push David St. Romain out of the picture.
As a country girl, I am convinced that they all will have successful careers whether they win or lose, but this season is different from previous competitions. All three of the finalists -- Angela, Zac, and David -- have heart, soul, and most importantly a voice.
All along, I've been rooting for Angela, and to be honest was ready to boot her brother out of the picture after the first week. But I've had a change of heart and ever since Zac sung his original song, I've been rooting for him to make it big.
More importantly, I want to hear who your favorite is.
Also, if anyone has plans to attend a stop on the "Nashville Star" concert tour, I'd love to hear about it -- or be stashed in your suitcase.
